Senior Manager of Mechanical Engineering (Robotics)

What you will do

• Build, lead, and scale the Locomotion and Manipulation mechanical engineering team.
• Own team execution, resource allocation, mentorship, and matrixed deployment across product pods.
• Guide mechanical architecture, structural design, kinematics, and design reviews for Apollo’s arms, hands, legs, chassis, joints, and end-effectors.
• Establish Siemens NX CAD standards, large-assembly management practices, top-down master modeling, and PLM integration with Teamcenter.
• Coach engineers on SWaP-C optimization, lightweighting, internal packaging, actuator integration, and wire routing.
• Drive design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly practices to transition prototypes into scalable production using casting, machining, and injection molding.

Requirements

• 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience in robotics, aerospace, automotive, or advanced electromechanical systems.
• 3+ years of direct engineering management experience and proven matrix organization experience.
• Hands-on expertise in complex mechanism design, structural bearing life calculations, kinematics, and high-torque actuator integration.
• Expert-level Siemens NX experience, including complex assembly structures and top-down modeling workflows.
• Experience shipping dynamic moving hardware such as robotic arms, legged robots, advanced prosthetics, or active suspension systems.
• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
