Location: On-site in Carson, California, United States. U.S. work authorization must be maintained throughout employment, and export-control rules require U.S. citizenship or nationality, lawful permanent residence, refugee status, or asylee status.
Salary: $200,000β$260,000 annually, plus equity and bonus opportunities.

What you will do
- Lead the Systems & Applications Engineering team and deliver consistently high-quality engineering output.
- Architect, debug, build, integrate, and launch physical robotics systems across the hardware and software stack.
- Break down complex system-level issues and guide engineers through structured problem-solving and technical decision-making.
- Coach, mentor, onboard, and develop engineers through training frameworks, performance reviews, and career conversations.
- Allocate engineering resources and coordinate priorities across Product, Projects, RDO, Sales, Government, Customer Strategy & Success, and Marketing.
- Communicate team bandwidth, technical risk, skill alignment, handoffs, timelines, and quality expectations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- BS/MS degree or equivalent experience in Robotics, Automation, Advanced Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 6 years of experience building and launching complex physical systems, such as robotics, drones, or autonomous vehicles.
- At least 2 years of experience managing performance, developing engineers, and allocating team resources.
- Hands-on systems experience across hardware, firmware, software, and integration, with familiarity with ROS and embedded systems.
- Proven experience training, mentoring, and developing engineering teams, with strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Must maintain U.S. work authorization throughout employment and meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements.
Nice to have
- Experience leading distributed or multi-location teams and working with external design and manufacturing partners.
- 8+ years of experience building and launching complex physical systems.
- Principal Engineer experience with formal people leadership, or 4+ years of direct engineering management.
- Experience scaling training programs, onboarding systems, or technical development tracks in a high-growth environment.
- Recognition as a technical mentor or thought leader.
