Field Engineering Manager (Robotics)

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3–5 Field Engineers, including performance management, growth planning, hiring, and onboarding.
• Define diagnostic procedures, repair standards, escalation paths, and operating cadences for field service operations.
• Build and maintain a Repair Standards Library and active Confluence knowledge base for SlipBot and SlipLift failure modes.
• Partner with Service, Applications, Mechanical, Design, and Product Engineering teams on root cause analysis, field validation, deployment standards, and feedback loops.
• Own field technical campaigns from risk identification and remedy development through customer coordination, deployment, and fleet-wide validation.
• Track field engineering KPIs including MTTR, first-time fix rate, escalation recurrence rate, and campaign closure rate.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in field service engineering, service engineering, or technical support in a hardware- or robotics-intensive environment, with hands-on diagnosis and repair of complex electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience designing diagnostic procedures, repair standards, or technical troubleshooting frameworks used by field teams.
• Strong understanding of motor drives, actuators, sensors, embedded controllers, and hardware-software interaction in autonomous platforms.
• Experience with root cause analysis and cross-functional collaboration with product or design engineering teams.
• Proficiency with ticketing, documentation, and engineering tracking tools, including Zendesk or equivalent, Confluence, and JIRA.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field, plus 2+ years of direct people management experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with autonomous mobile robots or industrial automation platforms.
• Familiarity with ROS.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications.
