Engineering Manager (Robotics)

What you will do

• Manage and develop a team of 18–22 robotics software engineers across multiple technical specialisations and seniority levels.
• Own career trajectories, regular 1:1s, promotion reviews, performance improvement plans, and employee wellbeing.
• Lead end-to-end hiring for technical roles, including sourcing strategy, interview design, offer decisions, and onboarding during the first 90 days.
• Represent team resourcing, morale, and structural needs in Director-level planning.
• Partner with Staff Engineers while maintaining a clear separation between people management, technical architecture, and sprint allocation.
• Support the team through high-pressure hardware deadlines and product launch cycles.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of direct engineering management experience, including management of at least 6 engineers in a product engineering environment.
• Demonstrated success developing engineers and advancing their careers.
• Experience managing performance improvement processes and owning the full technical hiring cycle.
• Software engineering background sufficient for credible discussions about control loops, real-time constraints, and embedded systems.
• Clear written and verbal communication in English is required.
• Sound judgment under ambiguity, direct feedback skills, low ego, and experience leading through at least one product launch cycle.

Nice to have

• Engineering management experience in robotics, autonomous systems, or advanced manufacturing.
• Experience managing engineers across multiple technical specialisations.
• Experience scaling a team from 6 to more than 20 engineers while maintaining team health.
• German language skills.
