Manager, Mechanical Engineering (Mechanical Engineering): Leading the mechanical engineering group for the Titan Program with an accent on team leadership, product quality, manufacturing processes, and CAD-based design. Focus on defining engineering standards, driving innovative designs, resolving complex technical issues, and contributing as an individual engineer when needed for project delivery.

What you will do

  • Hire, manage, coach, and mentor members of the mechanical engineering group.
  • Assign engineers to subsystem projects and coordinate workload, priorities, and technical issue escalation.
  • Ensure engineering outputs meet product goals, requirements, quality, reliability, schedule, budget, and scope expectations.
  • Define engineering standards, design principles, quality assurance processes, and best practices.
  • Drive innovative design and research initiatives while balancing project risks.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary collaboration and contribute as a subject-matter expert or individual contributor when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience and experience managing or leading technical teams.
  • Experience with component manufacturing processes, including machining and rapid prototyping, and large system development projects.
  • Proficiency with parametric solid modeling and CAD software; SolidWorks and PDM experience are required.
  • Knowledge of engineering drawings, tolerancing standards, Agile Scrum, and strong technical problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work at the Austin, Texas campus in a dynamic startup environment.

Nice to have

  • Automation industry and startup experience.
  • Experience with thermal and mechanical FEA, topology optimization, Ansys, or SolidWorks Simulation.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Industrial safety systems experience and a resourceful, innovation-oriented approach.
