Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: US Remote, with up to 50% travel to client engagements and the Chicago office.

What you will do

• Shadow client operations teams and conduct structured discovery to identify and prioritize workflow pain points.
• Design and scope automations, AI agents, system integrations, or combined solutions for operational needs.
• Build and integrate production software with transportation management, warehouse management, and ERP systems.
• Prototype and ship automated check calls, shipment tracking, carrier qualification and onboarding flows, and voice or chat-based agents.
• Tune prompts, agent behavior, voice models, and transcription models using production data and edge cases.
• Feed recurring implementation patterns back into product and engineering teams as reusable platform capabilities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of full-stack engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript, including libraries and frameworks that support rapid prototyping.
• Hands-on experience designing automated workflows and AI-driven business solutions.
• Experience building and maintaining APIs and integrations with third-party or enterprise systems.
• Ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders, explain trade-offs, and translate operational needs into technical solutions.
• Current authorization to work full-time in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with voice or transcription-based systems.
• Familiarity with freight, transportation, supply chain, TMS, WMS, or ERP systems.
• Experience in a growth-stage or startup environment.
• Exposure to agent orchestration frameworks or LLM evaluation and monitoring tools.
• Experience combining software development with customer relationship ownership.
