Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in the Washington, DC area, with regular onsite customer work and up to 40% domestic and OCONUS travel

Base salary: $150,000–$220,000 per year, plus potential equity.

What you will do

• Configure, optimize, customize, and support hirify.global software in customer environments.
• Write and maintain production-quality Python and TypeScript code.
• Work directly with users to understand workflows, gather feedback, and translate insights into product requirements.
• Debug and improve system reliability, performance, and usability based on real-world usage.
• Build technical demonstrations and collaborate with product and engineering teams on new features.
• Identify automation opportunities and contribute to company strategy, culture, and evolving responsibilities.

Requirements

• Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance required at the time of hire.
• US citizenship required; green card holders cannot be considered and visa sponsorship is not available.
• 2+ years of professional software engineering or forward deployed engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python and TypeScript, with experience in LLMs and modern AI application techniques.
• Experience working directly with end users or customers in a technical capacity.
• Strong communication skills, high autonomy, and the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.

Nice to have

• Experience in defense, intelligence, or national security environments.
• Experience at an early-stage startup or in other fast-moving environments.
• Background in system design or full-stack development.
• Existing relationships with Department of Defense or civil agency stakeholders.
• Active TS or TS/SCI clearance.
