Installation Technician (Journeyman) (Audiovisual Technology)

Location: Must live in the Portland metro area; frequent travel by car throughout the PNW is required. The role involves client construction sites, periodic overtime, and weekend work.

Salary: $36.49–$46.39 per hour

What you will do

• Install audiovisual systems including displays, projectors, loudspeakers, microphones, equipment racks, mounts, and other technology.
• Terminate, test, label, repair, and document copper and fiber-optic cabling.
• Prepare, build, and wire equipment racks and custom panels from engineering drawings.
• Read functional design drawings and cable riser diagrams to execute project installations.
• Lead and delegate work to installation crews, subcontractors, and union trades while monitoring quality and field operations.
• Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, clients, contractors, and subcontractors while making independent onsite decisions.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as an associate technician, fabrication technician, installation technician, or in a related industry.
• High school diploma or GED, Oregon LEB or LEA, AVIXA CTS certification, and OSHA 30 certificate.
• Valid Oregon driver's license and ability to meet company insurance requirements.
• Knowledge of audio, video, networking equipment, low-voltage electrical concepts, advanced carpentry, installation methods, and power-tool safety.
• Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical problems with strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to work independently on construction sites, lift or move materials up to 40 pounds, climb ladders, use PPE, and remain on foot for at least 60% of the workday.

Nice to have

• AVIXA CTS-I certification.
• 5+ years of installation technician or related industry experience.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree.
