Installation Technician (Journeyman) (Audiovisual Technology)

Location: Must live in the Portland metro area, United States; frequent travel by car throughout the PNW region is required. The role involves regular work on client and construction sites, with periodic overtime and weekend work.

Salary: $36.49–$46.39 per hour

What you will do

• Install audiovisual systems including displays, projectors, loudspeakers, microphones, equipment racks, mounts, and related technology.
• Lead and delegate work to installation crews, subcontractors, and union trades while coordinating with project managers, superintendents, clients, and contractors.
• Terminate, label, test, repair, and verify cabling, including advanced fiber-optic cable installations.
• Build and wire custom panels, prepare equipment racks, and interpret functional design drawings and cable riser diagrams.
• Oversee field operations, quality standards, materials, tools, vehicles, job boxes, inventories, and daily project records.
• Make independent onsite decisions, troubleshoot technical problems, and provide technical and schedule feedback to project leadership.

Requirements

• Must live in the Portland metro area and hold a valid Oregon driver's license.
• At least five years of installation technician or related industry experience, including three or more years as an associate or fabrication technician.
• AVIXA CTS certification and OSHA 30 certification are required; additional technology-specific certifications may be required.
• High school diploma or GED, plus an associate's or bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of audiovisual and networking equipment, low-voltage electrical concepts, advanced carpentry or installation, power-tool safety, and technical troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently on construction sites, coordinate stakeholders, lift or move up to 40 pounds, climb ladders, and comply with PPE and site safety requirements.
