Senior Appian Plugin Developer (Appian Cloud)

Location: Nationwide remote within the United States; office location listed as Reston, Virginia. Green Card holder or US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain Public Trust Security clearance.

Salary: $98,614–$167,644 per year for full-time employment.

What you will do

• Refactor custom Appian plugins to remove filesystem, unsupported database, and incompatible logging dependencies.
• Modernize plugin components using supported Appian APIs and cloud-compliant integration patterns.
• Validate, package, and deploy custom and AppMarket plugins across development, testing, and production environments.
• Support regression testing and resolve defects related to plugin behavior, integrations, and environment differences.
• Collaborate with Appian Developers and DBAs on application remediation, data migration, and validation.
• Prepare technical documentation, cutover and rollback plans, risk tracking, and post-migration stabilization activities.

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience developing custom Appian plugins, including smart services, functions, and integrations.
• 7+ years of professional Java application development experience.
• 3+ years of custom Appian plugin development and maintenance experience.
• 3+ years of cloud modernization or legacy refactoring experience, RESTful integration design, modern logging frameworks, and multi-environment deployments.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills in structured, milestone-driven delivery environments.
• US citizenship or Green Card, plus the ability to obtain Public Trust Security clearance, required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Appian Cloud migration initiatives and Appian Senior or Lead Developer certification.
• Experience with technical debt remediation, regulated enterprise or financial services clients, and production cutover stabilization.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps pipelines, secure code scanning, and Agile certifications.
