Senior Application Software Engineer (Java/Spring)

Location: Hybrid in Chandler, Arizona; must be located in Maricopa County, Arizona, or willing to relocate there

Base salary: $88,000–$120,000 annually, plus potential discretionary annual bonus

What you will do

• Gather customer requirements, understand business logic, and create technical design documents.
• Develop web-based applications and interfaces using Java, JavaScript, SQL, database technologies, and client/server technologies.
• Implement business logic, user interfaces, databases, and system integrations while improving performance, scalability, and user experience.
• Manage code repositories with Git or similar tools and contribute to deployment automation and reliable software releases.
• Develop and execute unit, regression, and smoke tests to ensure software quality.
• Create and maintain code comments, user guides, API documentation, and software security controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• At least four years of experience implementing and deploying medium to large systems.
• Professional experience with Java, JavaScript, SQL, Oracle 19c or MySQL, data structures, system design, performance tuning, UML, and object-oriented design.
• Experience with Spring or Spring Boot, JPA, JDBC, Tomcat or an embedded Spring Boot web server, and development tools such as Maven, Eclipse, IntelliJ, and SQL Developer.
• Experience with Cucumber or a similar testing suite, shell scripting, SVN or Git, Linux, Windows, server and web client technologies, and distributed systems.
• Strong communication, teamwork, analytical, troubleshooting, and technical documentation skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with JSON and React.
• Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall methodologies.
• Knowledge of the electrical energy industry.
