TL;DR
CNC Programmer II (Aerospace): Developing G-code programs and machining 3D-printed rocket engine parts with an accent on multi-axis precision machining, tooling, fixtures, and production optimization. Focus on transitioning first-article programs into production, editing code paths, and solving complex manufacturing challenges for the Terran R program.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. Onsite first-shift role, Monday-Friday, 5:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. PT, with a 50-hour workweek including 10 guaranteed overtime hours.

Salary: $34-$51 USD per hour.

What you will do

  • Develop CNC programs, post G-code, and machine a variety of 3D-printed engine parts.
  • Create first-article programs and optimize them for production.
  • Write manufacturing plans and develop tooling and fixtures.
  • Program and operate 2-axis, 3-axis, 5-axis, lathe, mill/turn, and other multi-axis machines.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to develop new machining processes and provide feedback on hardware iterations.
  • Support production of precision-machined rocket engine and vehicle hardware for testing.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of CNC programming experience.
  • Experience programming and operating high-precision multi-axis machines, including 5-axis, 3-axis, lathe, and mill/turn equipment.
  • Experience with DMG MORI machines such as NLX, NTX, DMC FD, and DMU series.
  • Ability to optimize programs and post code using Esprit, Mastercam, or similar CAM software.
  • Understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-up, with experience manually editing G-code paths and settings.
  • Experience creating detailed setup instructions and transitioning parts from first article to production.

Nice to have

  • Engineering or related technical degree and 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience machining 3D-printed parts.
  • Startup, agile, flight development, or fast-paced R&D experience.
  • Experience with lights-out production.
