CNC Machine Programmer (Defense Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Read blueprints, CAD models, and specifications to develop CNC programs for multi-axis milling and turning machines.
• Program, set up, and operate 5-axis mills, live-tooling lathes, mill-turns, and multitasking machines using CAM software.
• Design workholding, tooling, and fixturing solutions to improve machining accuracy and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot machining issues, adjust programs in real time, and optimize quality and throughput.
• Perform in-process and final inspections using precision tools and GD&T standards while maintaining CNC equipment.
• Collaborate with engineers on design, prototyping, systems integration, and transitions between R&D and short-run production.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of CNC programming experience with CAM software and at least 5 years setting up and operating multi-axis CNC machines.
• Strong knowledge of G and M codes, Fanuc, Siemens, or Brother controls, and GD&T.
• Experience machining alloys, metals, plastics, and other materials to high-precision standards.
• Ability to own the manufacturing process from programming through final inspection and work across prototyping and production environments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb unassisted.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance and authorized to work in the United States without export-license sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Expertise in simultaneous 5-axis programming for complex geometries.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
• Experience with water jet cutting, FDM/SLA 3D printing, or CMM programming such as PC-DMIS.
• Familiarity with defense manufacturing standards, quality assurance protocols, and advanced machining of lightweight materials.
