Friction Stir Welding Technician II

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. Onsite second-shift position, Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. PT, with a 50-hour workweek including 10 guaranteed overtime hours.

Salary: $27.20–$40.80 USD per hour, plus a 10% shift differential.

What you will do

• Operate friction stir welding equipment, prepare welds, and perform post-weld blending.
• Complete standard lift operations and assist with critical lifting operations.
• Perform precision blending and deburring with power tools and hand tools.
• Conduct in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, pi tape, and other inspection tools.
• Maintain safety and shop cleanliness standards while collaborating with engineers and technicians.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of friction stir welding experience.
• At least 1 year of crane and rigging operations experience.
• Proficiency with common hand tools and inspection tools.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or team communication tools such as Slack.
• Availability for the Monday–Friday second shift and 50-hour workweek.

Nice to have

• Experience with machining equipment such as mills or lathes.
• Experience operating CNC equipment or robotics.
• Experience with nondestructive testing operations.
• Previous aerospace experience.
