Friction Stir Welding Technician I (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. Onsite second-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. PT. The role includes a 50-hour workweek with 10 guaranteed overtime hours each week.

Salary: $22.80–$34.20 USD per hour, plus a 10% shift differential.

Develops and manufactures rockets, including the Terran R launch vehicle, to deliver customer payloads to orbit.

What you will do

• Assist with friction stir welding operations, including equipment operation, weld preparation, and post-weld blending.
• Complete standard lift operations and assist with critical lift operations.
• Perform precision blending and deburring with power tools and hand tools.
• Conduct in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, pi tape, and other inspection tools.
• Maintain high standards for safety and shop cleanliness while supporting an inclusive work environment.

Requirements

• Experience with material joining processes such as friction stir welding, arc welding, soldering, or brazing.
• Experience with metal fabrication techniques, including forming and bending.
• Proficiency with common hand tools and inspection tools.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or team communication tools such as Slack.
• Ability to work onsite in Long Beach, California, on the scheduled second shift.

Nice to have

• Experience with rigging and crane operations.
• Experience with milling, turning, CNC equipment, or robotics.
• Familiarity with nondestructive testing operations.
