Manufacturing Engineer (Tank Weldment/Primary Structure)

Location: Onsite in Redondo Beach, United States

Salary: $115,000–$140,000 per year

What you will do

• Own the manufacturing life cycle for assigned tank weldment and primary structure hardware.
• Select manufacturing processes, define process requirements, and provide design-for-manufacturability guidance during hardware development.
• Apply expertise in fusion and solid-state welding, raw material processing, machining, non-destructive examination, and mechanical joining.
• Design and activate factory production cells, including layouts, material flows, build processes, lifting and rigging, and facility requirements.
• Optimize tank integration and supporting-structure processes while working directly with machinists, welders, and technicians.
• Support vendors, supply chain development, capital projects, facility activations, automation, and new manufacturing capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of hands-on manufacturing experience and demonstrated experience developing manufacturing processes.
• Experience working in a hardware development environment.
• Proficiency with CAD software and ability to learn new tools.
• Ability to work across fast, iterative development and highly controlled production environments.
• Must meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship, U.S. lawful permanent residency, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering.
• 6+ years of manufacturing experience in aerospace or a related industry involving metallic structures.
• 4+ years of welding experience, including laser, friction stir, or TIG welding.
• Experience with spacecraft, aircraft, automotive composite parts, launch vehicles, or satellite development.
• Startup experience and the ability to work autonomously in a demanding environment.
