Software Engineer (Defense)

Location: Full-time onsite presence at the Arlington, Virginia office; approximately 10% travel to customer meetings and installations throughout the United States.

Salary: $90,000–$184,000 per year, with ranges of $90,000–$150,000 or $114,000–$184,000 depending on experience, skills, and education.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and test software using C++, Java, and other technology stacks.
• Gather and refine user, functional, and technical requirements.
• Integrate software components into complex Department of Defense environments.
• Develop interfaces using TCP/UDP, DDS, ActiveMQ, Kafka, and RabbitMQ.
• Prototype next-generation solutions and support testing and integration in IDT and customer laboratories.
• Participate in design reviews and code reviews.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, physics, mathematics, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong proficiency in modern C++ or Java.
• Experience with tactical DoD systems and tactical data networks.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, algorithms, data structures, software design patterns, object-oriented programming, and the software development life cycle.
• Experience with software testing, configuration management, version control, Jira, and Confluence.

Nice to have

• Active DoD security clearance.
• Experience with Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, Swarm, virtualization, and deployment automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
• Experience with Jenkins, JFrog Artifactory, GitLab, VMware, or VirtualBox.
• Knowledge of VLANs, IP addressing, and static routing.
