Backend Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: On-site at the New York City or Washington, DC office

Base salary: $140,000–$190,000 per year

What you will do

• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable distributed systems focused on performance, reliability, and low latency.
• Diagnose, triage, and resolve issues across microservice architectures to improve system stability and resilience.
• Design secure APIs and efficient database schemas for product features and data handling.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to turn requirements into technical solutions.
• Work directly with end users to address operational needs and real-world problems.

Requirements

• Experience building and scaling distributed systems with demanding performance and latency requirements.
• Strong proficiency in debugging and triaging complex microservice architectures.
• Strong experience designing backend APIs and efficient database schemas.
• Experience with strongly typed programming languages; Java is preferred.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, monitoring, and distributed-system optimization.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
