TL;DR
Director, Production and Test Engineering (Aerospace): Leading production, test, and manufacturing engineering for fully qualified spacecraft with an accent on schedule execution, capacity planning, process maturity, and mission assurance. Focus on scaling build and test operations, driving automation and throughput improvements, and resolving complex test anomalies across cleanroom and environmental testing facilities.
Location: Near Denver, Colorado, United States. Hybrid work environment with some work required onsite.
Base salary: $175,000–$240,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do
- Lead and mentor technicians, production engineers, test engineers, and manufacturing engineers.
- Own production and test schedules, capacity planning, staffing, and inputs to the Integrated Master Schedule.
- Improve spacecraft build and test processes for efficiency, repeatability, compliance, and scalability.
- Drive automation initiatives to reduce cycle time, improve first-time yield, and increase throughput.
- Oversee requirements verification, procedure development, data analysis, anomaly resolution, and corrective actions.
- Maintain clean, safe, organized, and efficient production and cleanroom facilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, mechanical, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline.
- More than 10 years of experience in space component or spacecraft production and testing.
- In-depth knowledge of AS9100 and ISO9001 standards, production requirements, and testing protocols.
- Experience with high-rate complex components and assemblies, detailed test plans, MRP, PLM, MES, and automation integration.
- Expertise in lean manufacturing, rapid prototyping, environmental testing, ESD-sensitive manufacturing, and cleanroom management.
- Must be located near Denver and meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain required authorizations.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in manufacturing, mechanical, aerospace engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
- 15 or more years of experience in space component or spacecraft production and testing.
- Experience with CNC, tube bending, LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, or test automation.
- Experience building Integrated Master Schedule plans and managing critical paths.
- Active Department of Defense clearance or ability to obtain one.
