Software Engineer

Location: Full-time onsite at the Arlington, Virginia office, with approximately 20% travel; potential hybrid flexibility is mentioned.

Salary: $114,000–$231,000 per year, with additional experience-based pay ranges of $114,000–$184,000 and $135,000–$231,000.

What you will do

• Design, implement, integrate, and test software using C++, Java, and other technology stacks.
• Gather, decompose, document, and refine user, functional, and technical requirements.
• Prototype next-generation solutions for Department of Defense customers.
• Develop software interfaces using TCP/UDP, DDS, ActiveMQ, Kafka, and RabbitMQ.
• Support integration and testing in company and customer laboratories.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and cross-functional engineering activities.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong proficiency in modern C++ or Java.
• Experience with tactical Department of Defense systems, tactical data networks, software testing, configuration management, Git or SVN, Confluence, and Jira.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, algorithms, data structures, object-oriented programming, software design patterns, and the software development life cycle.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. security clearance and work onsite in Arlington, Virginia.

Nice to have

• Active Department of Defense clearance and experience with complex DoD system development, integration, and testing.
• Experience with Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, Swarm, virtualization, and deployment automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
• Experience with Jenkins, JFrog Artifactory, GitLab, VMware, VirtualBox, and basic networking concepts.
• Familiarity with U.S. Navy and U.S. Army tactical command-and-control or sensor systems.
