Software Engineer (C++)

Location: Full-time onsite work at the Arlington, Virginia office, with potential hybrid flexibility and approximately 20% travel.

Salary: $114,000–$231,000 per year; additional experience-based ranges of $114,000–$184,000 and $135,000–$231,000 may apply.

What you will do

• Design, implement, integrate, and test software using C++, Java, and multiple technology stacks.
• Develop software interfaces using TCP/UDP, DDS, ActiveMQ, Kafka, and RabbitMQ.
• Gather, decompose, document, and refine user, functional, and technical requirements.
• Prototype next-generation solutions and integrate software into complex DoD environments.
• Support testing and integration in company and customer laboratories.
• Participate in design reviews and code reviews while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong proficiency in modern C++ or Java, object-oriented programming, algorithms, data structures, software design patterns, and the software development life cycle.
• Experience with software testing, configuration management, version control, Git or SVN, Jira, and Confluence.
• Experience with tactical DoD systems and tactical data networks, distributed systems, and requirements development.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance and work onsite in Arlington, Virginia.

Nice to have

• Active DoD clearance and experience with complex DoD system development, integration, and testing.
• Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, Swarm, virtualization, and deployment automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
• Jenkins, JFrog Artifactory, GitLab, VMware, VirtualBox, and basic networking concepts.
• Experience with U.S. Navy or U.S. Army tactical command-and-control or sensor systems.
