Senior Java Engineer (Deployment Security & Software Reliability)

Location: New York, NY, United States; hybrid work model

Base salary: $130,000–$150,000 annually

What you will do

• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and improve enterprise Java applications and services.
• Work directly with development teams to remove technical barriers to safe and rapid software delivery.
• Modernize dependencies and applications using tools such as Renovate and OpenRewrite.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, release branching, versioning, deployment automation, and build processes.
• Build automated, local, and smoke testing and improve release confidence.
• Strengthen application security, software supply-chain visibility, vulnerability remediation, and Kubernetes-based deployments.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong hands-on Java expertise.
• Strong experience with modern Java, Spring Boot, enterprise application architecture, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, build pipelines, release processes, Gradle or Maven, and dependency management.
• Experience with automated testing, application modernization, static analysis, code quality gates, SAST/SCA tooling, or platforms such as Snyk, Black Duck, or Checkmarx.
• Understanding of SBOM concepts, CycloneDX, or SARIF, plus experience with containerized applications and Kubernetes.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment in New York, NY and collaborate directly with development teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Renovate, OpenRewrite, semantic or calendar versioning, release branches, or cascading merges.
• Experience with Node.js/npm, Python/PyPI, .NET/NuGet, Go, Shell, Bash, PowerShell, or Pkl.
• Background in Software Reliability Engineering, DevSecOps, Platform Engineering, or deployment engineering.
• Experience modernizing applications and delivery practices in large engineering organizations.
• Financial services or banking experience.
