Software Engineer (C++/Java)

Location: 100% remote; remote options are available globally. Office locations are listed in Boston, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and New York.

Base salary: $150,000–$250,000 per year, benchmarked to Tier 1 locations in each country. Total compensation may also include bonuses, commissions, and equity.

What you will do

• Own and maintain a robust, well-tested Java client library for external users.
• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance C/C++ server applications.
• Build message parsers and feed handlers for direct market data feeds from trading venues.
• Optimize systems for millions of messages per second, 40+ gigabits, and nanosecond-level latency.
• Develop tools and libraries for petabyte-scale data processing and analysis.
• Improve build, deployment, CI/CD, monitoring, uptime, and feature rollouts with the systems team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of full-time software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in both C/C++ and Java.
• Experience designing intuitive, developer-friendly APIs.
• Knowledge of systems programming, algorithms, data structures, multithreading, networked I/O, serialization, CPU architecture, kernels, and compilers.
• Experience with multiprocess environments and LLDB/GDB.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote workplace.

Nice to have

• Experience with C#.
• Background in a trading firm, technology company, or high-growth startup.
• Open source release management, versioning, changelogs, issue triage, and backward compatibility experience.
• Interest in low-level optimization, performance engineering, financial data, or algorithmic trading.
