Software Engineer II (Java/C++)

Location: Rome, New York, United States. Flexible for occasional telework, but remote work requires being local to the Rome, NY area.

Salary: $72,826.14–$126,630.53 annually.

What you will do

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance a complex cross-domain software codebase.
• Analyze and prototype baseline features addressing security and enterprise requirements.
• Maintain deployed versions of the cross-domain guarding solution and provide bug fixes.
• Collaborate with product development, research and development, fielding, government testing, and program management teams.
• Contribute within an Agile Scrum development team across the full software engineering lifecycle.

Requirements

• Science, mathematics, or engineering BS degree with 2–4 years of recent software development experience, or an MS degree with 0–2 years of experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a US SECRET clearance.
• Proficiency in Java, C++, shell scripting, XML, GitLab, VMware, and Linux.
• Experience with object-oriented design principles, software engineering tools, configuration management, build processes, debugging, emulation, simulation, and logic analysis.
• Container-based development experience with Kubernetes, Podman, GitLab CI, and Bash or equivalent.
• Must be located locally in the Rome, NY area for any remote work arrangement.

Nice to have

• Agile development experience and exposure to Security-Enhanced Red Hat Linux.
• Experience with Go, Rust, or C#.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices, test-driven development, and public-key cryptography.
