Senior Supplier Quality Engineer - Powertrain (HV Battery)

What you will do

• Select battery cell, module, and pack suppliers with Powertrain Engineering and Strategic Sourcing through process assessments and VDA 6.3 audits.
• Assess the manufacturability of high-voltage battery designs, including cell integration, thermal interface materials, busbars, and BMS systems.
• Manage product and process development with suppliers from prototype through end-of-line testing.
• Review PPAP and other quality documentation, ensuring compliance with high-voltage safety and performance tolerances.
• Issue and support resolution of 8D corrective actions related to battery degradation, thermal runaway risks, and capacity anomalies.
• Improve supplier quality processes, yield, cycle times, and compliance with safe handling, storage, and transport requirements for high-voltage and lithium-ion batteries.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in Quality, Supplier Quality, or Manufacturing in the automotive, aviation, or medical device industries.
• Experience with New Product Introduction, quality-system development, and manufacturing processes such as laser welding, ultrasonic welding, wire bonding, thermal potting or dispensing, and end-of-line functional testing.
• Experience with Six Sigma, 8D, Pareto analysis, regression analysis, ANOVA, DOE, Fishbone analysis, Red-X, and Is/Is Not problem-solving methods.
• Experience with process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, process control plans, SPC, MSA, and process capability analysis.
• Working knowledge of GD&T, ISO 9000, and IATF 16949, plus proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of lithium-ion battery chemistry, failure modes, and battery management system fundamentals.
• Familiarity with ISO 26262, UN 38.3, ECE R100, UL 2580, and IEC 62660.
• High-voltage safety training or certification.
• VDA 6.3, ASQ, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
