Manager, Materials Engineering (Lithium-Ion Batteries)

Location: Sparks, Nevada; onsite. Up to 25% travel is required. All candidates must have valid authorization to work in the U.S. without restriction.

What you will do

• Lead cross-functional programs to develop, qualify, and implement a resilient North American supply chain for key battery materials.
• Direct material evaluations from technical feasibility and laboratory analysis through production trials, qualification, and mass-production implementation.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Production, Quality, Procurement, Maintenance, global development teams, and suppliers.
• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods and improve the material-introduction process.
• Define program scope, milestones, resources, risks, decision points, and technical reporting requirements.
• Recruit, develop, coach, and manage engineers, supervisors, and other assigned personnel while building team capability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in engineering, materials science, material development, manufacturing, supplier quality, or a related technical field.
• At least 3 years of formal people management, supervisory, or substantial technical leadership experience.
• Knowledge of lithium-ion battery materials, manufacturing processes, or related supply chains.
• Experience sourcing, developing, qualifying, or industrializing raw materials and working with suppliers.
• Strong program management, analytical problem-solving, technical reporting, risk management, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing, lithium-ion batteries, electronic devices, chemicals, or advanced materials.
• Knowledge of Six Sigma, design of experiments, statistical process control, and structured problem-solving methods.
• Experience with JMP, Minitab, Python, or MATLAB.
