Sr. Director, International Employment Law Counsel

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid work with presence in the London office required 2–3 times per week. Domestic and international travel may be required up to 10% of the time.

What you will do

• Provide strategic employment law counsel for EMEA and other assigned international regions.
• Develop and execute international employment law strategy, governance frameworks, policies, and compliance programs.
• Advise HR leaders, executives, and business stakeholders on hiring, employee relations, compensation, restructurings, terminations, restrictive covenants, investigations, and litigation.
• Lead complex and sensitive investigations, disciplinary matters, grievances, whistleblower reports, executive employee relations issues, and employment disputes.
• Support mergers and acquisitions, integrations, organizational transformations, international expansions, and other enterprise-wide initiatives.
• Manage external counsel, coordinate cross-border legal strategies, monitor regulatory developments, and deliver employment law training.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and current good standing with a state bar association.
• 15+ years of broad-based legal experience, including substantial HR and employment law experience.
• Significant experience advising multinational organizations on complex cross-border employment matters.
• Deep expertise in UK employment law and experience supporting multiple European jurisdictions.
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead high-risk, business-critical matters and advise senior executives with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication, negotiation, judgment, stakeholder management, governance, and external counsel management skills.

Nice to have

• Current UK solicitor practicing certificate.
• Experience in a medical device or life sciences company.
• Experience in both private practice and an in-house corporate legal department.
