Senior Employment Counsel (Fintech)

Location: United States, Remote

Base salary: $200,000–$240,000 per year, depending on U.S. location, skills, and experience. Additional compensation such as bonuses, commissions, and equity may be offered.

What you will do

• Advise the People team across the employment lifecycle, including hiring, performance management, accommodations, leaves, compensation, reductions in force, terminations, and sensitive employee matters.
• Own employment disputes, pre-litigation claims, administrative charges, settlement negotiations, and employment litigation strategy with outside counsel.
• Lead internal investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, whistleblower concerns, and policy violations.
• Advise on multistate employment compliance, with particular focus on non-exempt employees, California law, employee data privacy, and information security.
• Draft and negotiate employment documents, maintain policies and compliance procedures, and provide training to People leaders and business stakeholders.
• Support adjacent legal matters including privacy, regulatory inquiries, ERISA and benefits, commercial contracts, non-employment litigation, and marketing review.

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 8–10+ years of legal experience with deep employment counseling and disputes experience.
• Demonstrated experience advising non-exempt employee populations and managing employment litigation and pre-litigation matters.
• Expertise in California employment law, plus experience with equity and executive compensation.
• Ability to advise People teams, executives, and business stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and work autonomously.
• Daily practical use of AI tools for legal research, drafting, analysis, workflow development, and risk-aware decision-making.
