Senior Staff Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Bellevue, Washington, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week; Toronto, Ontario is also listed as a work location.

Salary: $264,000–$310,000 USD base pay for listed U.S. compensation zones; $234,000–$275,000 CAD for Toronto. Additional bonus, equity, and benefits may apply.

What you will do

• Own the architecture and evolution of the service mesh, including Istio, Envoy, and networking foundations for multi-region operations.
• Define the long-term direction of the Kubernetes compute platform, including cluster lifecycle, scheduling, control plane architecture, and resiliency.
• Redesign Terraform-based infrastructure provisioning into a scalable, self-service platform.
• Diagnose source-level issues across Kubernetes API machinery, etcd, Envoy xDS, and Terraform providers.
• Produce architecture proposals, lead design reviews, and align engineering teams on infrastructure decisions.

Requirements

• Deep hands-on expertise with Kubernetes internals, including the API server, controller reconciliation, etcd watch propagation, scheduler mechanics, and admission control.
• Strong source-level knowledge of Istio and/or Envoy, including the xDS protocol and control-plane/data-plane debugging.
• Wire-level knowledge of HTTP/2 and gRPC, including connection management, flow control, stream multiplexing, and observability.
• Architectural-scale Terraform experience covering module design, provider internals, remote state, and multi-region provisioning.
• Production experience with Go or Python and a record of writing tested, operationally sound infrastructure code.
• Ability to drive cross-functional architectural change across large or complex engineering organizations.
