TL;DR
CNC Programmer II, Second Shift (Aerospace Manufacturing): Developing and optimizing G-code programs for multi-axis machines producing 3D-printed rocket engine parts with an accent on precision machining, tooling, fixtures, and first-article-to-production transitions. Focus on programming DMG MORI equipment, manually optimizing production code, and developing reliable machining processes for Terran R hardware.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. Second shift, Monday–Friday, 3:00 p.m.–1:30 a.m. PT.

Salary: $34–$51 USD per hour, plus a 10% shift differential and 10 guaranteed overtime hours per week within a 50-hour workweek.

What you will do

  • Develop CNC programs, post G-code, and machine 3D-printed engine parts.
  • Create first-article programs and optimize them for production.
  • Write manufacturing plans and develop tooling and fixtures.
  • Program and operate 2-axis, 3-axis, 5-axis, mill/turn, lathe, and other high-precision machines.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers on new machining processes and drive projects through completion.
  • Support lights-out production and precision-machined aerospace hardware development.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of CNC programming experience.
  • Experience programming and operating multi-axis high-precision machines.
  • Experience with DMG MORI NLX, NTX, DMC FD, or DMU series machines.
  • Experience with Esprit, Mastercam, or similar CAM software, including manual G-code optimization.
  • Understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-up.
  • Experience creating setup instructions and transitioning parts from first article to production.

Nice to have

  • Engineering or related technical degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience machining 3D-printed parts.
  • Startup, agile, flight development, or fast-paced R&D experience.
