Energy Markets Lead (HVDC)

hirify.global is building a US industrial electric grid using standardized, modular HVDC transmission terminals with integrated energy storage.

What you will do

• Build and maintain market models evaluating the value of transmission development using data on datacenter capacity, generation interconnection queues, industrial development, transmission constraints, permits, financing, and load forecasts.
• Develop a portfolio of transmission opportunities by matching large industrial loads and datacenters with stranded, curtailed, or new generation capacity.
• Identify generation partnership opportunities and propose transmission links to datacenters and other large loads.
• Assemble sizing, siting, and commercial information for opportunities; perform preliminary diligence and contribute to risk modeling with development and engineering teams.
• Model the regional and national commercial impact of individual links and identify network extensions, nodes, and additional users that improve system value.
• Create repeatable processes for gathering, cleaning, and analyzing public and proprietary energy data.

Requirements

• Professional experience in energy analysis, energy go-to-market, or capacity/resource planning for an energy developer, utility, IPP, consultancy, hyperscaler, or similar organization.
• Strong quantitative modeling skills, including financial and market models and programmatic data analysis using Python, SQL, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with US wholesale power markets, ISO/RTO market design, LMPs, congestion, generator interconnection queues, cluster studies, and FERC Order 2023.
• Understanding of utility and ISO/RTO tariff filings and rates, plus experience with renewables, storage, and heterogeneous power resources.
• Experience with datacenter or large industrial load development, power procurement, transmission economics, planning, or HVDC.
• Experience with transmission interconnection submissions, utility transmission RFPs, PPAs, offtake or tolling structures, development-stage risk modeling, Python data tools, and GIS/geospatial analysis.

Nice to have

• Experience with nodal, congestion, or basis analysis.
• Experience building analytical processes from scratch in an early-stage environment.
