M&A Associate

Location: Canada; remote

Salary: CAD 80,000–90,000 annually, plus an additional commission structure.

What you will do

• Identify and source software businesses that meet acquisition criteria and performance metrics.
• Run targeted prospecting campaigns, build relationships with acquisition targets and sell-side M&A investment banks, and test new business development strategies.
• Lead preliminary business and financial due diligence, opportunity evaluation, and risk assessment.
• Manage a deal pipeline and independently advance acquisition opportunities from sourcing through execution.
• Conduct industry and market research and analyze investment materials into concise, actionable insights and presentations.
• Coordinate data requests, due diligence, internal alignment, prioritization, and other operational support across functions.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or corporate development.
• Prior experience with software M&A transactions is required.
• Strong academic performance from a top-tier institution; an undergraduate degree in business or a related field is preferred.
• Professional maturity and confidence when interacting with C-level executives, together with strong sales, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of accounting principles, financial modeling, software business models, and the M&A transaction lifecycle.
• Strong analytical and pattern-recognition skills with advanced Excel proficiency.
