Senior Counsel

Location: Remote within Canada

Salary: CAD 158,400–247,500 annually; typical starting salary is CAD 188,100.

What you will do

• Provide practical legal advice to teams across Product, Partnerships, People, Marketing, and Finance.
• Review, negotiate, and draft commercial agreements, including MSAs, partnership agreements, vendor terms, NDAs, and BAAs.
• Advise on privacy and healthcare regulation, employment law, litigation risk, corporate governance, and intellectual property protection.
• Handle law enforcement and regulatory requests, including subpoenas, warrants, and regulatory inquiries.
• Build collaborative relationships with developers, product owners, and cross-functional partners.
• Help scale the Legal function through AI-supported intake, contract review, and document management.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a practicing lawyer, including in-house experience with high-growth technology companies.
• Admission to the Canadian bar is required; Ontario or British Columbia admission is preferred.
• Established expertise in at least three areas including commercial contracts, privacy regulation, healthcare regulation, litigation risk, employment law, and corporate governance.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, prioritization, relationship-building, and confidentiality-management skills.
• Comfort using AI and technology for legal work, including contract review and legal research.
• Ability to work effectively with teams operating across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

Nice to have

• US bar admission or other global bar admission.
• Experience building legal processes and products, such as AI-supported NDA review or knowledge management systems.
• Experience with scaling companies or entrepreneurial environments across multiple jurisdictions.
