Employment Counsel, Canada & International

Location: Remote First; candidates must be located in Canada. The role supports Canada and, as needed, international jurisdictions including the UK, Germany, Australia, and Singapore.

Salary: $114,400–$157,300 CAD base salary per year. Additional compensation may include bonuses, equity awards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Provide day-to-day employment law advice across all applicable Canadian provinces and support selected international jurisdictions with local outside counsel.
• Manage employment standards complaints, human rights complaints, demand letters, litigation strategy, and outside counsel instruction.
• Advise People & Culture and business leaders on investigations, performance management, accommodations, leaves of absence, and terminations.
• Draft and maintain employment agreements, policies, handbooks, and compliant employment frameworks.
• Lead employment-related compliance, process improvement, and international expansion projects.
• Identify and use AI tools to improve legal research, drafting, matter triage, and recurring workflows.

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant employment law experience, including Canadian employment matters, demands, and litigation.
• Called to the bar in at least one Canadian province, preferably Ontario, and in good standing.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian employment and human rights legislation, with the ability to learn multi-jurisdictional requirements.
• Excellent legal judgment, practical business-oriented communication, and the ability to explain complex issues to non-lawyers.
• Strong project management skills and comfort handling multiple matters and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
• Curiosity about AI-powered legal tools and willingness to review, validate, and adopt AI-assisted outputs.
