Wind Turbine Technician (Wind Energy)

Location: United States of America, Iowa, Massena; onsite at a home wind farm site. Support for other sites across Iowa may be required. Travel may reach 25% during the first year for training and 10% in subsequent years based on business needs.

What you will do

• Service and maintain wind turbines at the assigned wind farm.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot turbine errors and escalate complex technical issues to engineering functions.
• Provide customer service and support other wind farm sites across Iowa as needed.
• Help develop improved field procedures and operational best practices.
• Work inside wind turbine enclosures at heights of approximately 300 feet and in confined spaces.
• Take on additional technical and operational responsibilities at the wind farm.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 months of experience in a mechanical, electrical, or industrial field.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work safely at height, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather; the role includes ladder climbing, prolonged standing, lifting, bending, and other physical activities.
• Body weight of 265 pounds or less, successful physical examination, and successful pre-hire background screening.
• Self-motivation, quick decision-making, teamwork, customer service, communication, organization, and Microsoft Outlook and Excel skills.

Nice to have

• Certification from a renewable energy or wind technical program.
• Hands-on experience as a Wind Technician on a wind farm.
• Electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, maintenance, or troubleshooting experience from a military, industrial, or automotive environment.
