Wind Technician

Location: Onsite in Mojave, California, United States

Salary: $41,600–$90,000 USD annually, depending on job level, qualifications, location, skills, education, training, and certifications. Eligible for an annual cash bonus.

What you will do

• Assist with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical maintenance of wind turbine components.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe, efficient, and reliable operating environment.
• Document completed work, parts used, and time spent through computer-based service reporting systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair turbine systems, including SCADA communications, electrical pitch systems, computerized controls, and power conversion units.
• Read electrical schematics, use electrical test equipment, and perform balance-of-plant and switchyard work as required.
• Lead maintenance crews and mentor lower-level technicians at higher job levels.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or willingness to obtain one within the first six months of employment.
• Ability to climb wind turbine towers unassisted up to 300 feet, work in confined spaces, and work safely in adverse climates and environments.
• Valid driver’s license, good driving record, ability to travel, and willingness to work a flexible on-call schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools; electrical experience is not required for the trainee level.
• Higher levels require relevant electrical or turbine experience, including six months to three years of wind turbine experience depending on level.
• Clearway will not sponsor nonimmigrant visas, including H-1B, TN, and E-3 visas.

Nice to have

• Previous experience with SAP.
• Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams for Level I candidates.
