Location: Hybrid in Michigan, United States; Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm ET. Day-to-day operations may be performed remotely from a home office, with occasional travel for meetings, collaboration, team-building activities, inspections, or other assigned duties.
Annual salary: $67,371.20-$104,811.20, plus potential annual bonus incentive.

What you will do
- Review assigned claims, initiate claim handling activities, gather information, set expectations, and maintain accurate claim records.
- Analyze coverage, policy benefits, claim validity, damages, limits, exclusions, recovery opportunities, and applicable state laws.
- Handle intermediate to complex Michigan Personal Injury Protection claims, including fractures, mild closed head injuries, surgical procedures, and attendant care claims.
- Manage Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association matters, attorney-represented claims, sub-claims, and losses extending beyond standard PIP scenarios.
- Evaluate losses, authorize appropriate payments, negotiate settlements, and establish clear resolution plans.
- Collaborate with insureds, claimants, attorneys, physician offices, medical providers, insurance carriers, and internal departments.
Requirements
- Three years of experience or equivalent training in claim settlement negotiation, evidence evaluation, estimating, subrogation, coverage resolution, taking statements, and claim planning.
- Advanced knowledge of Michigan insurance regulations, Essential Insurance Act, Fair Trade Practices Act, No-Fault Law, negligence law, MCCA matters, and attorney-represented claims.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy, subrogation procedures, intercompany arbitration, and simple litigation.
- Completion of the ACG Claim Representative Training Program or equivalent knowledge or experience.
- Eligibility to acquire a required state adjuster’s license within 90 days of hire and maintain it as specified.
- A valid driver’s license is required when duties involve in-person inspections or frequent in-person meetings; ability to travel outside the assigned territory and occasionally work evenings or weekends.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or a related field.
- Associate degree in Business Administration, Insurance, or a related field.
- Insurance Institute of America General Insurance Program, Associate in Claims, Associate in Management, CPCU coursework, or designation.
