Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanisms (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Own major mechanisms assemblies and child components from design release through testing and integration onto Terran R.
• Drive design integration, part sourcing, assembly sequencing, mBOM development, work order creation, and specification authoring.
• Develop workcenters by defining assembly and test operations, safety requirements, tooling, and capital equipment.
• Provide hands-on support to production personnel and improve designs for manufacturability.
• Analyze recurring manufacturing discrepancies and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Mentor manufacturing engineers and improve production efficiency through critical and creative problem-solving.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering.
• 5+ years of experience building and testing hardware in a manufacturing environment.
• Extensive experience developing processes and authoring work instructions or test procedures for mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic assemblies.
• Experience collaborating with design engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, planning, and production teams.
• Experience leading large-scale process or quality improvements with broad ownership.
• Expertise in at least two areas including fastening and torquing, pneumatic or electromechanical assembly, testing, tooling, potting, grease plating, harness manufacturing, or complex machining.

Nice to have

• Successful aerospace new product introduction and transition from prototype to high-volume production.
• Knowledge of rocket subsystems, structures, mechanisms, high-pressure gas systems, or avionics.
• Expertise in GD&T and drafting principles.
• Experience with capacity analysis, DFMEA/PFMEA, or value stream mapping.
