Senior Manufacturing Engineer, ECLSS

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite position.

Salary: $137,760–$192,552 per year for the Senior Manufacturing Engineer level. The broader California pay range is $137,000–$230,000 USD.

What you will do

• Own manufacturing development, production readiness, build execution, and integration of ECLSS hardware for artificial-gravity space stations.
• Develop and optimize processes for metallic, fluid, thermal, and soft-goods hardware, including machining, welding, brazing, tube bending, cleaning, bonding, and assembly.
• Create manufacturing plans, work instructions, assembly procedures, inspection plans, and production documentation.
• Lead hands-on fabrication, assembly, integration, and test activities from prototype builds through flight hardware and launch vehicle integration.
• Resolve production issues through failure investigation, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with design engineering, technicians, quality, supply chain, test engineering, avionics, software, mission operations, and suppliers to ensure manufacturing readiness and system integration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, production engineering, or hardware development for fluid, thermal, environmental control, or life support systems.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting fabrication, assembly, integration, or testing of hardware.
• Experience developing manufacturing processes, work instructions, build plans, or production documentation for complex hardware.
• Experience with design for manufacturing and assembly, production readiness, process development, and manufacturing risk reduction.
• Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing, including U.S. citizenship, U.S. nationality, lawful permanent residency, or qualifying asylee or refugee status.

Nice to have

• Experience with aerospace, spacecraft, propulsion, ECLSS, thermal, fluid, or other high-reliability hardware.
• Experience with rotating machinery, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, fans, separators, soft goods, flexible ducting, seals, or insulation.
• Experience with NX, GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, inspection planning, FEMAP, or ANSYS.
• Knowledge of leak testing, proof testing, pressure testing, passivation, and other metallic and fluid-system special processes.
• Experience troubleshooting builds directly with technicians on the shop floor.
