TL;DR
Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace): Transitioning the E-2 engine from development to production through manufacturing planning, assembly processes, and hands-on integration and testing with an accent on manufacturability, fluid systems, and production readiness. Focus on creating manufacturing documentation, transferring MBOM data to MES, improving shop-floor productivity, and solving complex assembly and testing challenges.

Location: Hawthorne, California, United States; onsite. Travel up to 50% may be required, along with evening or weekend work during critical mission milestones.

Salary: $135,000–$195,000 USD per year.

What you will do

  • Collaborate hands-on with design engineers to transfer knowledge and improve the manufacturability and assembly of the E-2 engine.
  • Create manufacturing plans, assembly procedures, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Own the transition of the MBOM to MES and support manufacturing and assembly shop layout.
  • Lead Manufacturing and Test Readiness Reviews and perform hands-on assembly, integration, and component testing.
  • Specify and procure dedicated manufacturing tools and equipment.
  • Mentor junior engineers and implement shop-floor improvements to increase productivity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in aerospace.
  • Experience with CAD software such as Siemens NX, GD&T, and creating or reviewing engineering drawings.
  • Strong understanding of fluid systems, tube manufacturing, welding, and assembly techniques.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing under U.S. export control requirements. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted is also required.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting fluid components.
  • Relevant certifications.
