TL;DR
Sr. Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace): Developing scalable manufacturing processes, documentation, and workflows for PCB assemblies, electromechanical systems, and complex radar hardware with an accent on design for manufacturability, new product introduction, and production readiness. Focus on leading DFM reviews, guiding prototype builds into production, developing tooling and inspection methods, and improving quality, yield, and throughput.

Location: Full-time onsite position in Menlo Park, California, United States

Salary: $148,000 base salary plus bonus, stock options, and benefits

What you will do

  • Lead Design for Manufacturability reviews throughout the hardware development lifecycle.
  • Develop manufacturing processes, work instructions, assembly documentation, tooling, fixtures, inspection methods, and production workflows for complex radar hardware.
  • Act as the technical interface between Hardware Engineering, contract manufacturers, suppliers, and Supply Chain.
  • Support prototype builds and guide PCB assemblies and electromechanical products through New Product Introduction into production.
  • Investigate root causes and implement improvements to quality, yield, throughput, manufacturability, serviceability, and production readiness.
  • Drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes, documentation, and factory readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience manufacturing complex electronic or electromechanical products.
  • Strong knowledge of DFM principles for PCB assemblies and mechanical assemblies, plus PCB fabrication, SMT assembly, panelization, IPC workmanship standards, and electronics manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with New Product Introduction from prototype through production and with manufacturing documentation, assembly instructions, and production workflows.
  • Familiarity with Arena or another PLM system, NetSuite or another ERP system, and SolidWorks.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. personnel security clearance and obtain required ITAR authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Experience with low- to medium-volume production of complex hardware systems and direct collaboration with contract manufacturers and electronics suppliers.
  • Knowledge of PCB test strategies, fixture development, manufacturing validation, root cause analysis, process validation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with aerospace, defense, robotics, or other high-reliability hardware products.
  • Experience developing scalable manufacturing processes in a fast-paced engineering environment.
