TL;DR
Regulatory and Compliance Consultant (Healthcare Compliance): Supporting regulatory compliance and ethics through regulatory analysis, advocacy, regulator inquiries, and guidance on changing laws and regulations with an accent on healthcare and insurance regulations, stakeholder consultation, and corrective action planning. Focus on managing state and federal regulatory examinations, drafting agency responses, developing compliance education tools, and improving processes through LEAN methodologies.

Location: Mountlake Terrace, Washington, United States; hybrid work with on-campus access and attendance.

Salary: $101,900–$173,200 annually.

What you will do

  • Assess, analyze, and track regulatory agency activities, advising the business on implications and developing advocacy strategies.
  • Manage inquiries and examinations from state and federal regulators and build relationships with regulatory stakeholders.
  • Identify regulatory and compliance issues, conduct research, prepare reports, and support Corrective Action Plans.
  • Lead work on the Advocacy Committee, including collecting comments and drafting consolidated responses to proposed regulations.
  • Serve as a compliance expert and strategic partner for cross-departmental workgroups and advise stakeholders on regulatory impacts.
  • Develop compliance education, self-service tools, process improvements, and LEAN-based ways to reduce low-value activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or four years of relevant work experience.
  • Six years of experience in regulatory, compliance, legal, public policy, or internal audit work, or related postgraduate education and experience.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain the Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional designation within one year of hire.
  • Knowledge of Washington, Alaska, and federal health plan laws and regulations, including the Affordable Care Act.
  • Strong analytical, research, written, presentation, communication, prioritization, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal and regulatory requirements, identify root causes, and develop effective corrective actions.

Nice to have

  • Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) certification.
  • Juris Doctorate or another related advanced degree.
  • Healthcare or insurance industry experience.
  • Experience advocating directly with state or federal regulatory agencies.
