Tech Lead (TypeScript/React)

hirify.global builds satellite analytics products that help predict and prevent wildfires, storm events, and power and train outages related to vegetation, weather, and climate.

What you will do

• Lead, support, and coordinate a five-person engineering team while remaining approximately 60% hands-on.
• Own and shape the architecture and technical roadmap for the services behind Treeline.
• Architect and build end-to-end features handling large volumes of geospatial data across browser, mobile, and backend systems.
• Design and implement performant API endpoints and backend services for partners and customers.
• Coordinate development with product management, UX/UI, data, DevOps, ML, and geospatial engineering specialists.
• Improve team practices and collaboration within cross-functional squads.

Requirements

• First experience as a tech lead, with a team- and product-first approach.
• Strong backend experience with NestJS, Express, or Node.
• Advanced TypeScript skills and production experience with React or another component-based frontend framework.
• Familiarity with mobile development, especially React Native.
• Experience working with CI/CD, code review, and unfamiliar codebases.
• Practical day-to-day experience using AI-assisted coding.

Nice to have

• Spec-driven or test-driven development experience.
• Experience with web-based geospatial or GIS applications.
• Strong design and UX awareness for making small product decisions independently.
