Staff Engineer (Retail Media / AdTech)

Location: Berlin, Germany; remote work is possible, with work from anywhere in the EU for up to 20 days per year.

What you will do

• Drive the technical strategy and architecture for Retail Media advertising solutions, focusing on scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• Design and lead Node.js and TypeScript microservices with clean, modular architectures.
• Develop and maintain high-performance frontend applications with React, Next.js, Material-UI, Formik, and JSONSchema validation.
• Optimize real-time and high-throughput systems using MongoDB, Redis, Algolia, BullMQ, and RabbitMQ.
• Collaborate with product, design, analytics, business, and engineering stakeholders to deliver scalable advertising experiences.

Requirements

• Several years of professional software development experience, including at least 2 years in a Lead Engineer, Principal Engineer, or similar technical leadership role.
• Expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, React, and cloud-native system design.
• Experience building and maintaining scalable microservices and frontend applications.
• At least 3 years of AdTech experience; Retail Media, sponsored ads, targeting, and attribution models are highly relevant.
• Experience leading technical discussions, mentoring teams, and influencing product and business outcomes.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum and cross-functional environments.
