TL;DR
Senior Quality Inspector, Production Floor, Second Shift (Aerospace) (flight hardware): Conducting in-process and final inspections of propulsion components, large structures, and mechanical assemblies with an accent on dimensional accuracy, hardware requirements, and non-conformance documentation. Focus on using precision tools and borescopes, resolving quality issues with engineering and production teams, and improving inspection processes for rocket production.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. Onsite second-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. PT. The role includes a 50-hour workweek with 10 guaranteed overtime hours weekly.

Salary: $31.20–$46.80 USD per hour, plus a 10% shift differential.

What you will do

  • Conduct in-process and final inspections of propulsion components, large structures, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Perform dimensional inspections of flight hardware using micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and other precision hand tools.
  • Review hardware requirements, determine pass/fail status, and document non-conformances and deviations.
  • Use borescopes for foreign object debris inspections of machined parts and assembly cavities.
  • Capture closeout photos of large integrated assemblies during final walkdowns.
  • Identify process improvements and contribute to quality initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of quality inspection experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment supporting production hardware.
  • Expert proficiency with precision hand tools, including micrometers, calipers, and bore gages.
  • Experience collaborating with design engineering, manufacturing, and production teams to resolve inspection and quality issues.
  • Ability to perform thorough inspections in compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with MRB processes, including identifying, documenting, and dispositioning non-conforming hardware.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 25 lbs.

Nice to have

  • Experience inspecting COPVs or avionics hardware, including electrical connectors, harnesses, and integrated assemblies.
  • Experience leading projects or influencing quality improvements without formal authority.
  • Strong organization skills in ambiguous or undefined environments.
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.
