Principal Embedded Software Engineer - Remote

Location: New Hampshire, USA — Remote

Salary: $144,100–$190,000 per year, plus bonus

What you will do

• Design, develop, modify, and test embedded software for digital signal processing computer boards.
• Create board support packages, device drivers, power-on firmware, built-in tests, and design verification test software.
• Analyze requirements, develop design alternatives, and contribute to architecture, design, and code reviews.
• Develop test software and procedures and prepare complete user and design documentation.
• Support software release validation, planning, coordination, task breakdowns, and estimates.
• Evaluate new technologies, follow embedded software trends, and share technical knowledge.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent, with at least 5 years of experience.
• Strong C programming skills and experience developing Linux and/or VxWorks device drivers.
• Experience with hardware design verification testing, firmware and/or BIOS development.
• Ability to read and understand IC datasheets and board schematics.
• Knowledge of embedded software engineering processes and standards.
• Strong communication skills, responsibility, quality focus, and commitment to deadlines.

Nice to have

• Yocto Linux, Xilinx PetaLinux, or Xilinx MPSoC experience.
• Device driver development involving interrupts and DMA.
• Git or SVN, JIRA, software debugging tools, and test methodologies.
• Experience with PCIe, PCI, FPGAs, I2C, Flash, Ethernet, and diagnostic equipment.
• Active secret clearance or the ability to obtain one; project management experience.
