Embedded Software Engineer (Firmware)

Salary: $168,000–$247,000 USD per year, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Lead firmware bring-up and integration for ARM-based embedded platforms.
• Develop bare-metal firmware and RTOS-based applications for motor control, sensors, telemetry, power systems, and robotic subsystems.
• Write robust, maintainable, and documented C/C++ code for embedded targets.
• Collaborate with electrical and systems engineers on schematic reviews, hardware bring-up, and system integration.
• Lead system bring-up, validation, debugging, and firmware reliability efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of hands-on embedded systems development experience.
• Deep expertise in bare-metal programming on ARM microcontrollers and strong C/C++ proficiency.
• Experience with custom-board bring-up, low-level debugging, digital electronics, and embedded buses including I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and contribute across the full development cycle.

Nice to have

• Experience with FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or Embedded Linux on constrained systems.
• Experience with motor control, power systems, or battery management in robotics or automotive contexts.
• Familiarity with safety-critical systems, watchdogs, fault handling, schematic reading, and board-level debugging.
• Experience in startup or advanced R&D engineering environments.
