Senior Hardware Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Letchworth office, United Kingdom; hybrid working available

Defense and aerospace products and services are developed and manufactured, including flight recorders, air data computers, video management systems, computing systems, mission displays, and video recorders.

What you will do

• Design and develop ruggedized VPX-based computer systems and video products.
• Deliver electronic designs from initial concept through formal documentation and completed sealed data packs.
• Maintain existing products through obsolescence management, circuit upgrades, and production support.
• Plan and complete qualification testing, including temperature, vibration, and EMC testing, in-house and at external test houses.
• Support design reviews, technology evaluation, manufacturing introduction, and cross-functional work with software, mechanical, production, and sales teams.
• Provide technical guidance to junior colleagues and take responsibility for allocated design tasks.

Requirements

• Degree or HND in an appropriate technical subject.
• Relevant embedded systems experience, including VPX PC card integration, digital design, and analog design.
• Experience with Intel Xeon and NXP PowerPC VPX single-board computers.
• Experience with ORCAD, Altium, or a similar schematic design package, plus PCIe interface design and DC-DC power supply design.
• Knowledge of EMC design and ruggedized video monitors, including MIL specifications.
• Ability to perform board-level fault finding and complete environmental testing to RTCA/DO-160, MIL-STD-810, and MIL-STD-461 standards, including test specifications and reports.
