Manager, Risk and Controls (Parental Leave Cover)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid, with teams in the office around four days a week. This is a UK-based role and requires the right to work in the United Kingdom.

What you will do

• Implement and monitor local financial, operational, and compliance controls in line with the WPP Internal Control framework.
• Design and operate ongoing quality reviews and control monitoring programs as a second line of defense across supported markets.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, discuss findings, and monitor remediation activities with relevant regional teams.
• Manage risk and control processes including business risk maps, internal control self-certifications, market Letters of Representation, and related declarations.
• Advise stakeholders on ethics, anti-bribery and corruption, internal controls, policies, and control requirements.
• Identify improvement opportunities, including technology adoption, process standardization, and sustainable control solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with experience in risk and controls, ethics and compliance, risk management, business process improvement, or internal and external audit.
• Experience assessing business risk and evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of internal control systems.
• Familiarity with IFRS, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and PCAOB requirements.
• Certified Accountant, ACA, CA, ACCA qualified, or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently, balance multiple priorities, and collaborate across geographies, functions, and diverse stakeholder groups.
• Must have the right to work in the United Kingdom.

Nice to have

• Experience in media and advertising with knowledge of core business processes.
• Competence in Excel.
• Additional languages such as Spanish, French, or German.
