Field Application Engineer (VN)

Location: Bac Ninh, Vietnam; customer-site support in Vietnam with occasional travel to Southeast Asia

What you will do

• Provide customer-site application engineering and support for thermal interface materials, EMI materials, absorbers, magnetics, and multifunctional solutions.
• Select, qualify, and implement Laird solutions with OEM, ODM, and contract manufacturing engineers and distribution partners.
• Support Vietnam contract manufacturers and customers during production ramp-up.
• Coordinate internal resources to deliver solutions for engineering, design, and application challenges.
• Provide technical support for regional business development and support projects across Southeast Asia when required.
• Track project progress in the Salesforce CRM system.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in thermal management and/or EMC engineering, preferably in data center, telecom, automotive, industrial, or medical environments.
• Experience selecting and qualifying thermal pads, phase-change materials, thermal grease, and liquid gap fillers.
• Experience with dispensing, application-related issues, and onsite support during mass-production ramp-up.
• Experience applying EMI materials, including fabric-over-foam gaskets, absorbers, magnetic shielding, conductive foils and tapes, precision metals, and board-level shields.
• Fluent Vietnamese and English are required. Ability to communicate technical findings clearly and manage multiple priorities is essential.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of material characterization, automatic assembly, and failure analysis.
• Mandarin for communication with other Laird site factories.
