Contracting Controls Technician (HVAC/Controls)

Location: North Charleston, South Carolina, United States. Field-based role requiring on-site work at customer locations, rooftop access, ladder use, occasional overnight stays, and overtime as business needs require.

Hourly base pay: $32.48–$40.34 per hour.

What you will do

• Commission, program, configure graphics and communications links, test, troubleshoot, and service assigned HVAC controls projects.
• Document point-to-point verification, sequence-of-operations validation, and project closeout requirements.
• Serve as the direct customer contact, diagnosing and repairing equipment and systems at customer locations.
• Coordinate with the team leader and customers to plan installations and repairs, forecast issues, gather materials, and synchronize on-site work.
• Maintain current knowledge of Trane products and direct digital control system installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair.
• Enforce safety standards and maintain accountability for company-issued and procured assets.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and typically 3–5 years of HVAC or controls experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficiency with handheld computers such as smartphones or iPads.
• Valid driver’s license held for at least 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations or preventable collisions during the previous three years.
• Ability to safely operate vehicles, wear required protective equipment, use ladders, access rooftops and confined areas, and perform frequent walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and lifting.
• Ability to work around variable weather, moving mechanical parts, heights, electrical shock risks, noise, and other field environmental conditions.

Nice to have

• Technical school or formal technical training.
• Previous experience with direct digital control systems.
