Manual Machinist (Aerospace)

Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 39.74–41.97 per hour

Develops helicopter securing and traversing systems, marine hangar doors, sonar handling systems, towed line array handling systems, sonar domes, towed bodies and fairings, and aviation support systems for the world's navies.

What you will do

• Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, air-hydraulic presses, grinders, saws, jig bores, and other machining equipment.
• Manufacture and inspect detailed metal parts and tools from blueprints, sketches, drawings, and verbal instructions.
• Apply mathematical and geometrical calculations and work with aluminum and alloy steels.
• Meet required tolerances while maintaining production quality and efficiency.
• Notify the supervisor of tooling requirements and perform preventative maintenance procedures.
• Keep machines and work areas orderly, follow health and safety practices, and assist with machine repair when required.

Requirements

• High school education plus two years of technical training.
• More than five years of experience operating manual lathes.
• Ability to understand and solve technical problems.
• Ability to program graphical machine interfaces.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work safely and comply with applicable health and safety practices.
